Dirty Apple

My favorite road signage!
Live near New York City and want to find out what all the fuss is about concerning these gravel/back road events is? Well, here's a chance to do just that.

The Dirty Apple is a new event, about a metric century plus in length, and will happen on September 2nd alongside another ride the club out there does called the Golden Apple. The Dity Apple will have just over half of  its mileage in hard packed dirt roads and trail with an elevation gain of just over 6000ft.

Here's a great quote from the ride site to get you stoked:

"The ride is truly beautiful and will make the riders wonder if they somehow got into a time/space warp and were transported to the past or at least to Vermont. "

Sounds like fun to me! See the site here for more details.

The Night Bison

More nighttime gravel grinding here. This time it is in Illinois out of the gravel aficionados at North Central Cyclery.

This is completely self-supported and will start at sundown September 1st.  For more details go to their site here.

Fall Classic

With fall colors this should be a spectacular ride. The "Fall Classic" has two route options of 71 and 127 miles with each having just a hair over half of those as dirt/back roads. (Therefore just making the cut to get on the site here!)

If you want to check out this tour, please see the website here and scroll toward the bottom for a link to registration.

Frankenbike 50

Ohio will be the state where you can get your "frankenbike" on September 9th, 2012. Using a course of 50% gravel 30% paved, and 20% single track, the event can be "toured" or raced.

For more details see their website here.
