The date is set as Saturday, January 5th, 2013. There will be a film about the Almanzo 100 shown by Royal Antler Films, music, and frites and beer served.

AGRS Decides To Fold: Races Carry On
![]() |
| The Almanzo adds another event; The Dirty Nellie 400 |
In a bit of positive news regarding the Almanzo, it has also been learned that the proposed 400 mile event has a name, (Dirty Nellie 400), and while we do not have solid details on the event, we do know it is in addition to the Almanzo 100 and Royal 162 events. Word has it the the 400 mile course will be something riders might be able to tackle at anytime during the year with some sort of individual time trial goal, similar to Tour Divide.

Land Run 100- New Event In Oklahoma
![]() |
| The Red Dirt Of Oklahoma |
The event is shaped as a way for folks to not only experience the rural goodness of Oklahoma, but as a way to test your mettle before the Dirty Kanza 200 which comes up following this event on June 1st, 2013.
In fact, the event promoters are from DK 200's home town of Emporia, Kansas and now run a local bike shop called District Bicycles, located in Stillwater, near to where this event will launch.
Online registration is open now and will close February 23rd. No same day registrations, so get over to the site and check out the details to enter this new, self supported 100-ish miler.

The Events Calendar For 2013
Hey folks! Just an update here to let you know that I've been busy gleaning all the 2013 event dates and websites that I can find for gravel grinder goodness. There is a lot of events going down already for next year. (Be sure to click the Events Calendar link under the header image to see them all.)
That said, I am sure I am missing some of those events that have been on the calendar previously, and probably some newer ones as well. If you know of an event that belongs here, (course is 50% gravel or more), then let me know, won't you? My e-mail link is in the upper right area of the right hand column here underneath our sponsors logos.
Once again- this is your site- make it happen! I have gotten a lot of feedback from event promoters saying having their events on this calendar makes a difference, so if you want that sort of exposure, than make sure I know about your event. It's free to get listed here, and all that is required is that readers be able to click through to a website with event info, and that you have a course that is primarily gravel/dirt road.
Thanks for hitting this site, and Ride On!

One Speed Open Update
The One Speed Open quickly approaches! here is an update for you:
"Race day is quickly approaching and the weather will cooperate in making it an epic, true "winter classic"... Come prepared by bringing as many warm layers and as much to drink and chew on as you think you'll need to get you through."
Sounds like good advice to me! Check on the latest up-to-the-minute details on the event here.

TOSRV Dirt
For almost 30 years there has been a double century, 2 day ride located in Southern Georgia and Northern Florida called TOSRV. Well, the good folks that put that event on down there have added a "dirt" option which will take riders on some of the back roads of the area. Here is a brief description I was sent for you to check out here;
"TOSRV Dirt is the off road version of the Capital City Cyclists TOSRV South Double Century Bike Ride. The off road version brings the same great food and support TOSRV South is so well known for, but with a little more adventure. The route starts in Cairo, GA (home of the Syrupmakers!) and travels to Albany, GA via clay roads that pass through the pecan groves and cotton fields of S. Georgia. At the end of day one we will camp in Chehaw Park in Albany, have a great dinner and a few adult beverages to celebrate the day. Day two returns to Cairo via a different route. Each day's ride is approx 75 miles long and approx 75% of the route is on dirt roads. "
So if you want to hit this event up, which will take place on April 20th-21st, then hit there link here.
